Adelie was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and obtained a Master's degree in Art from the University of California in Berkeley in 1959. She has exhibited her work in one-person and group shows in the Bay Area and in New York. She was a Campbell Gallery "Introductions" artist in 1975. A survey exhibition of her work is at the Salander-O'Reilly Gallery in New York, September 7 - 30, 2006; a catalog with an essay by Bill Berkson is available. Adelie Landis Bischoff was raised in Brooklyn. She studied with Elmer Bischoff, David Park and Hassel Smith at the California School of Fine Arts in 1951 and 1952. The following year she studied with Smith at his Potrero Hill/Mission Street school. She received her MFA from the University of California, Berkeley in 1959. In 1962 she married Elmer Bischoff.
